RSVPs & General FAQs

When is the RSVP deadline? Can I change my RSVP response?

Please RSVP at the latest by May 9th.

Please notify Mel and Vinay if you need to change your RSVP response after the deadline. We cannot promise a reserved seat for you if you initially declined but we'll try our best.

I don't see a member of my family listed on the RSVP

We wish we could invite everyone, but due to space constraints, only those on the guest list can attend. While every guest is important to us, please understand that if a family member isn’t listed, they won’t be able to join. We appreciate your understanding!

Can I bring a date? Can I bring my kids?

Please sign in with your email in the RSVP section to see who all in your party is invited - we tried to be as specific as possible, and all guests have been listed! Unfortunately, we are unable to extend an invite to all kids due to limitation. If this poses challenges, we understand if you're unable to attend.

If one of the named person in my party is unable to make it, can I bring a different person in replacement?

Due to our guest list limitations, we’re only able to accommodate the specific individuals on the invitation. We truly appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to celebrate together!

What will the weather be like?

Summer in San Jose can be quite HOT and its important to hydrate with the multi-day wedding and mix of indoor/outdoor spaces! Please monitor the weather as the date gets closer.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

- Friday: Indoors
- Saturday: Outdoor ceremony, Indoor dinner
- Sunday: Outdoor ceremony, Indoor reception

What should I wear?

It varies each day. We've outlined the color restrictions and ideal dress code for each day under the Events tab AND in this dress code guide. Remember to bring sunglasses!

Ok, but what's the food and drinks situation for each day?

There's an open bar for each day so bring your ID (and Pepcid ifykyk)! Also, Lactaid if you have dairy sensitivity.

Our Sangeet will have a North Indian buffet with some South Indian dishes where you can self-serve throughout the night. The Cambodian ceremony will have some small bites and non-alcoholic beverages followed by a dinner that accommodates both vegetarian and non-vegetarians. The Hindu ceremony will have a chai station and is followed by a cocktail hour that leads to a modern Indian buffet-style reception.

Cultural FAQs

How can I learn more about Hindu Telugu wedding traditions?

India is a huge country with different religions and subcultures. Not all Indian weddings have the same traditions and rituals. Here's an article on Telugu Hindu weddings

How can I learn more about Cambodian/Khmer wedding traditions?

Keep in mind, Mel's family is Christian and has modified the Cambodian ceremony. Here's an article on what a Cambodian wedding looks like in America.

How do I dance to Khmer/Cambodian or Indian songs?

Great question! Fun (obvious) fact, Mel and Vinay both have left feet.

For Khmer music, here is a TikTok TLDR of Khmer dances. Here's a Youtube playlist of basic khmer social dances and Madizone (line dancing). For Indian music, here are some essential Bollywood moves!

What is Indian and Cambodian food?

India is a huge country and the food really varies depending on the region. For our Indian events, we will have a mix of North and South Indian cuisine. Due to Hinduism, beef isn't in any of the dishes but mutton is. For those lactose intolerant, dairy is incorporated in a lot of the dishes.

For Cambodian food, fermentation and pickling of ingredients are common techniques used in the cuisine. Vegetarianism doesn't really exist in Cambodian cuisine and is heavy in the usage of prahok (fermented fish), fish sauce, meat broths, oyster sauces. For our Cambodian event, we will have vegetarian and non-veg.
